What We Do
Our programs are designed to support all children in need; however, special emphasis is placed on empowering the girl child. Educating girls is pivotal in addressing societal challenges such as forced marriages, illiteracy, and unwanted pregnancies among teenagers. In Cameroon, 31% of girls are married before their 18th birthday, with 10.7% married before age 15. Additionally, 8% of adolescent girls give birth before the age of 16, contributing to high maternal mortality rates among pregnant teens.
By focusing on the education of the girl child, we aim to break these cycles, reduce vulnerabilities, and foster a society where every child has an opportunity to succeed. Our commitment is to bridge the education gap by supporting children in need, covering tuition, books, and essential learning resources. Together, we can create a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Mission Statement
The mission of this Non-Governmental Organization is to sponsor and support the education of underprivileged children in the targeted rural areas.
More specifically the foundation aims at improving the conditions of learning by:
- Providing financial assistance to children especially the girl child
- Rehabilitating identified schools
- Backstopping school administration, teaching staff, and the community
- Developing fruitful partnerships and lobbying for funds
- Providing health facilities.
The School Child is a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the education of underprivileged children in Cameroon. By providing scholarships, mentorship, and essential resources, we help children overcome financial barriers and access quality education especially the girl child.
Our Vision
The vision of the School Child is in line with the Cameroon National Development plan for 2020-2030. This vision aims to “Contribute significantly in offering quality education especially to the girl child in the rural areas of the North West, South West, Adamawa, North and Far North regions of Cameroon”.
